Tropical Depression Romina has been officially named by Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and is currently located in the western part of Palawan. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, moving north-northeast at a speed of 30 km/h.
𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸: Romina is currently moving north-northeast, but it is expected to shift to a north-northwest direction today, then further veer toward the west-northwest for the remainder of the forecast period. The storm may pass near the southern part of the Kalayaan Islands within the next 24 hours and could temporarily enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸: Romina is expected to briefly intensify to a tropical storm within the next 12 hours before weakening back into a tropical depression for the rest of its journey. It is also important to note that the storm’s track could change within the forecast confidence cone as the system continues to evolve.
𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀: Romina is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the Kalayaan Islands and parts of Palawan. As a result, warnings have been issued for possible flooding and landslides in areas that the storm will pass through.
