Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to help resolve ongoing tensions between the United States and North Korea, highlighting the importance of addressing global conflicts.

Speaking during an event at the Oval Office, where he emphasized diplomatic solutions to international issues, Trump was asked whether he had recently written to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as previously reported earlier this month. While he did not directly answer the question, Trump said he maintains a “good relationship” with Kim.

According to NK News, a Seoul-based website that monitors North Korea, the North Korean delegation at the United Nations in New York has reportedly rejected multiple attempts by Trump to send letters to Kim.

During his first term in office from 2017 to 2021, Trump and Kim met three times at high-profile summits and exchanged a series of letters that Trump once described as “beautiful.” These exchanges were part of an unexpected diplomatic effort that ultimately collapsed due to disagreements over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.

Trump has since acknowledged North Korea as a “nuclear power” during his second term. On June 11, the White House stated that Trump remains open to renewed communication with Kim Jong Un, though it did not confirm whether any letter had recently been sent.

North Korea, meanwhile, has shown no interest in resuming talks since diplomacy stalled in 2019. The country continues to advance its nuclear and ballistic missile programs and has strengthened ties with Russia, including support for Moscow’s ongoing war in Ukraine.
