Typhoon Paolo has slightly weakened as it continues to move across the mountainous areas of Northern Luzon this afternoon, according to the latest PAGASA bulletin issued at 2:00 PM, October 3.
As of 1:00 PM, the center of Paolo was located in the vicinity of Mayoyao, Ifugao, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center, gusts of up to 200 km/h, and moving west-northwest at 30 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4 remains hoisted over parts of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, and La Union, where storm-force winds pose significant to severe threats to life and property. Other areas remain under Signal Nos. 3, 2, and 1, covering much of Northern and Central Luzon.
PAGASA also warned of a possible storm surge reaching 1 to 3 meters along coastal areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora. Gale warnings are in effect, with sea travel considered dangerous in Northern and Central Luzon waters.
The weather bureau said Paolo is expected to emerge over the West Philippine Sea by late afternoon or evening and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning, October 4.
Authorities urge residents, especially those in high-risk areas, to remain alert, monitor official advisories, and follow evacuation orders when necessary.
