Vice President Sara Duterte is now facing a third impeachment complaint in the House of Representatives.
The complaint, filed by 12 complainants, includes a diverse group of individuals such as lawyers, priests, and non-government organization (NGO) workers from Mindanao and other parts of the country.
The grounds cited in the impeachment complaint are allegations of graft and corruption, as well as betrayal of public trust.
A notable group involved in the filing is the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL-Mindanao).
The complaint is connected to the ongoing controversy surrounding Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential funds from both the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Among the endorsers of the impeachment complaint are Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Gabriel Bordado Jr. and AAMBIS-OWA Party-list Representative Atty. Lex Colada, both of whom have expressed their support for the filing.
The complainants and endorsers have vowed to release additional statements once the filing procedures are complete.
Before this latest impeachment filing, two other complaints had already been submitted to the House of Representatives. The previous complaints were filed by civil society groups and militant organizations.
