Vice President Sara Duterte addressed recent impeachment proceedings on Friday, stating that she is not considering resignation at this time, despite being impeached by the House of Representatives earlier this week.
Speaking at a press conference, Duterte told reporters, “We’re not yet there. That’s still too far ahead,” in response to questions about her future in office. The Vice President explained that her legal team is currently reviewing the impeachment complaint, emphasizing that only her lawyers are handling the details of the case.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted 215-0 in favor of impeaching Duterte, marking a significant development in Philippine politics.
Despite the vote, Duterte remains firm, suggesting the legal process will take its course before any final decisions are made. “We’re still reading the impeachment complaint. We’re not yet there because only the lawyers are working on it. I don’t know what they’re doing,” she added.
This statement comes as political observers closely monitor the evolving situation and the potential impact on the Duterte administration.
