ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Government now temporarily bans swine, pork, pork products and by-products from Luzon.

This is an amendment done in Executive Order 159 issued by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. who previously declared a ban of the entry of live hogs and pork-related products from two provinces only, Rizal and Bulacan.

Dapat dugangan naton ang kudal sang Iloilo bangud the trend in Luzon is going uncertain,” Defensor stated, citing the data from the Department of Agriculture which confirmed cases of ASF in Pangasinan, Cavite, Nueva Ecija, and Quezon.

According to Defensor, it is only a must to beef up the security of Iloilo against African Swine Fever (AFS) which is uncertain and is circulating in most areas of Luzon.

Furthermore, Defensor ensures that the quarantine measures headed by the Bureau of Animal Industry are well-implemented in the province of Iloilo, as well as the checkpoints done by the Philippine National Police.

Continous observation of the ASF trend in Luzon is also done, Defensor added.
