𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has officially announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in selected schools across the city as part of the preparations for the Dinagyang Festival 2025.

The executive order, issued under Executive Order No. 11, aims to allow students and educators to participate in the cultural and religious festivities and ensure ample time for recovery afterward.

The suspension will take place on January 22, 23, 24, and 27, 2025, for the following schools:

I. Arroyo Elementary School
Hibao-an Integrated School
Taal Elementary School
Nabitasan Integrated School
Andres Bonifacio Integrated School
Bo. Obrero Elementary School
Iloilo Central Elementary School
Rizal Elementary School
A. Mabini Elementary School
Lapaz Elementary School
Jaro II Elementary School
A. Montes I Elementary School
A. Montes II Elementary School


In addition, face-to-face classes for all preschool to senior high school students throughout Iloilo City will be suspended on January 27, 2025, in line with the festival’s schedule.

Mayor Treñas emphasized that the suspension is to allow students to actively join the Dinagyang Festival in honor of the Senior Santo Niño, while also providing the school community time to recuperate from the festivities.

The executive order further specifies that the suspension for tertiary education institutions will depend on the discretion of the respective school or university heads.

The Dinagyang Festival, celebrated every January, is one of the most significant events in Iloilo City, drawing locals and tourists alike for its vibrant street dancing, religious processions, and cultural performances.
