The Eraserheads band has officially removed member and lead guitarist Marcus Adoro following allegations of sexual harassment.
In a statement posted on his social media, Ely Buendia, the leader of the band, acknowledged the accusations and strongly condemned any form of abuse. “As proponents of justice, we unequivocally condemn all criminal acts and stand against abuse of any form. Above all, we seek the truth,” Ely shared in his Instagram post.
This announcement comes after the release of the Eraserheads’ film Combo on The Run, which tells the band’s story and features their reunion concert in 2022.
The group has decided to temporarily remove Marcus from their upcoming projects, including their concert scheduled for May 31 at the Festival Grounds in Parañaque City.
“As Marcus makes time to address the matter at hand, he will be stepping back from the upcoming project,” Ely continued. “We move forward with humility and deep respect for the truth and social responsibility.”
The allegations against Marcus first surfaced in March on a social media platform, where a netizen claimed that Marcus had raped them while they were still in high school.
Marcus has yet to respond to the allegations.
