ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Government has pledged to allocate funds for the completion of projects under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), following a report by the Commission on Audit (COA).
According to COA’s report, as of December 31, 2023, a total of 68 projects in Iloilo, worth ₱130.148 million, remained incomplete. These projects are funded through the Local Government Support Fund – Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) under NTF-ELCAC.
Out of the 68 projects, 42 projects still lack funding, amounting to ₱97.884 million.
In light of this, COA recommended that the Iloilo Provincial Government comply with the requirements of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular 2023-063. This circular emphasizes the need for local fund allocations, project completion, and the timely repair of LGSF-SBDP-funded projects to achieve the program’s objectives.
In response, the Iloilo Provincial Government has allocated ₱51.055 million to complete 57 projects. As of July 26, 2024, 23 projects are in the implementation stage, while the remaining projects are at the procurement stage.
Additionally, the provincial government has set aside ₱29.200 million to complete 10 more ELCAC projects.
The Provincial Government assured that the Provincial Engineer’s Office will continue to request funds to ensure the completion of the remaining projects.
