A tragic helicopter crash occurred on Thursday in New York City’s Hudson River, resulting in the deaths of all six people onboard, including three children.

The victims were believed to be a family from Spain, along with the pilot, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

The Bell 206 helicopter, operated by New York Helicopter Tours, took off around 3 p.m. from a downtown helicopter pad, flying northward over the Hudson River. Upon reaching the George Washington Bridge, the helicopter turned south but crashed minutes later. The chopper hit the water upside down and sank near Lower Manhattan, just off the coast of Hoboken, New Jersey, around 3:15 p.m.

Divers assisted in retrieving the victims—three adults and three children—from the water. Four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to nearby hospitals but later succumbed to their injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the crash, with the NTSB taking the lead in the inquiry.#
