A total of 100 North Korean soldiers have been reported killed and 1,000 others injured while assisting Russia in its war against Ukraine.

This was confirmed by South Korean parliament member Lee Sung-kwon following a briefing from the National Intelligence Service of Seoul.

According to Lee, the casualties included high-ranking officials sent by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

It is believed that the soldiers may have been killed by drones. It was also believed that these troops were deployed as frontline shock troops in an unfamiliar open field.

In October, reports indicated that nearly 10,000 soldiers had left Pyongyang to go to Moscow and assist Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the United States, the Pentagon has confirmed that North Koreans died in the war against Ukraine, but they have not provided specific details on the number of casualties.

It is believed that before being deployed to the war, the North Korean troops were stationed in Russia for training and support roles. It is also believed that some of them were killed in Kursk, a region where Ukrainians are also fighting to defend their small territories.

Last weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky released a statement confirming that Russia used a “significant number” of North Koreans in their attacks on Kursk.
