The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued Weather Advisory No. 39, warning of heavy to intense rainfall over several parts of the country from December 25 to December 28 due to the Shear Line and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
Residents are urged to take precautions as widespread rainfall could lead to flooding, landslides, and other hazards, especially in mountainous and elevated areas.
Affected Areas and Rainfall Outlook
December 25 to December 26 (Noon):
Heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 mm) is expected in Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
Moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 mm) will affect Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Northern Samar.
December 26 to December 27 (Noon):
Heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 mm) is forecasted for Aurora, Quezon, and Isabela, while moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 mm) may affect Cagayan, Apayao, Camarines Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
December 27 to December 28 (Noon):
Heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 mm) will persist in Cagayan and Isabela, while moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 mm) is expected in Apayao, Aurora, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
Preparedness Measures
PAGASA has emphasized the potential for more severe impacts in areas with significant antecedent rainfall. Local disaster risk reduction and management offices are advised to activate emergency measures to safeguard lives and property.
Residents in affected areas are encouraged to monitor weather updates, heed warnings, and prepare for possible evacuations. PAGASA’s regional divisions may release localized Heavy Rainfall Warnings and other advisories as needed.
