𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – The opening salvo of the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahan begins today, Thursday, with the opening of the Dinagyang Tribes Competition set for tomorrow, Friday, in Iloilo City.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Mr. Carlos Rito “Judgee” Peña, Chairman of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI), announced that the event will begin at 2:00 PM, with performances taking place at the Freedom Grandstand and the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Peña explained that the opening salvo aims to further engage both locals and tourists, leading up to the highly anticipated Dinagyang Festival on January 25 and 26.
For Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahan, the following festivals will perform: Banaag Festival from Anilao, Kaing Festival from Leon, Tawili Festival from San Rafael, Hirinugyaw Suguidadonay Festival from Calinog, Tinuom Festival from Cabatuan, Cry of Jelicuon Festival from New Lucena, Tangyan Festival from Igbaras, Haw-as Festival from Dumangas, and Tultugan Festival from Maasin.
In the Dinagyang tribes competition, eight competing tribes will showcase their performances, including Tribu Paghidaet from La Paz National High School, Tribu Salognon from Jaro National High School, Tribu Parianon from the District of Molo, Tribu Ilonganon from Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Tribu Pag-Asa Kang Manduryaw from the District of Mandurriao, Tribu Hangaway from Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School, Tribu Molave from Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao, and Tribu Pan-Ay from Fort San Pedro National High School.
Additionally, six barangay-based tribes will perform during the Sadsad sa Calle Real, while Tribu Sidlangan, the champion of the 2024 Ilomination, will also take the stage.
As part of the festivities, there will be road closures in some areas of the City Proper, particularly around Calle Real, to ensure the smooth flow of activities.
