A 43-year-old man died after being stabbed by the older brother of a man he allegedly bullied in Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City.
The victim was identified as alias Joseph, while the suspect, alias Michael, 32, is a construction worker and a resident of the same barangay.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Ryan Christ Inot, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 4, stated that the incident began when Michael’s younger brother, alias Toto, reported that he was being bullied by the victim, who was also their neighbor.
Toto claimed that this wasn’t the first time he had been mocked, provoked, or cursed at by the victim.
After hearing this, Michael reportedly took a knife, approached Joseph, and stabbed him in the back.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, which led to his swift arrest by barangay tanods.
Despite expressing remorse, the suspect claimed he only wanted to defend his younger brother.
It was also alleged that prior to this incident, many residents had already complained against Joseph for being a troublemaker in the community. Reports also suggest he had just recently been released from prison.
The suspect is currently detained at the police custodial facility, and the knife used in the crime has been recovered from him.
