ILOILO CITY – A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested during a drug buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao district.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Tonyo,” 38 years old, is a garbage collector and resident of the said barangay.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Joebert Amado, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Station 5, revealed that the suspect operated primarily at night and sourced his supply from the districts of Jaro, Mandurriao, and Arevalo.

According to Amado, several residents had previously lodged complaints against Tonyo for allegedly carrying firearms and using them to intimidate others.

Authorities monitored the suspect for more than a month before successfully apprehending him.

Recovered from Tonyo were approximately 20 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard drug price of ₱136,000. Also seized were a .38 caliber revolver and a shotgun.

The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
