The House of Representatives has approved the report from the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability recommending the filing of cases against Vice President Sara Duterte related to allegations of misuse of funds without following the proper procedures.

According to the report, the committee recommended charging Duterte with technical malversation, perjury, bribery, and plunder due to alleged abuse of confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) between 2022 and 2023.

Manila Representative Joel Chua, the committee chairman, stated that Duterte requested significantly more confidential funds compared to previous vice presidents.

Chua also explained that the committee examined four main issues, including obstruction of inquiry, abuse of confidential funds, interference and bribery, and systemic flaws in Joint Circular 2015-01.

Furthermore, the committee recommended filing criminal, civil, and administrative cases against other officials involved in the matter.

The recommended charges include technical malversation, falsification, use of falsified documents, perjury, bribery, corruption, plunder, betrayal of public trust, and violation of the Constitution.
