An inspiring story of perseverance and determination unfolded in Leganes, Iloilo, as Atty. John Marvin Marañon, a Person with Disability (PWD), successfully passed the 2024 Bar Examinations.
Despite significant physical challenges, Marañon has proven that no obstacle is too great to overcome.
Hailing from Barangay Poblacion, Marañon’s academic journey is a testament to dedication.
He completed his elementary, high school, and law degrees at Central Philippine University (CPU), while earning a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from St. Vincent’s College Incorporated.
His success in the legal field is no surprise, given his family background: his father is a Certified Public Accountant and lawyer, and his mother is a Registered Nurse and former dean of CPU’s College of Pharmacy.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Marañon shared that his parents instilled in him the dream of becoming a lawyer as early as kindergarten.
However, his path took a challenging turn when a basketball accident caused a severe spinal injury.
This injury forced him to temporarily pause his law studies.
With steadfast determination and the unwavering support of his parents, Marañon returned to law school in 2020, relying on a walker to aid his mobility.
Despite his physical challenges, he completed his studies and strengthened his faith in God and relationship with his family throughout the process.
Looking ahead, Marañon plans to complete his rehabilitation before officially starting his legal practice.
His story serves as a powerful reminder that with determination, faith, and family support, even the most daunting obstacles can be overcome.
This achievement marks a milestone not only for Marañon but also for the many PWDs who aspire to achieve their dreams.
