An Ilonggo student’s hard work and dedication bore fruit as he clinched the championship title in the Pencak Silat Tunggal Junior Novice Male category during the Batang Pinoy 2024 held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

He is Lebron James Lamayo, a 14-year-old Grade 8 student from Barangay General Hughes-Montes, Iloilo City Proper.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Lamayo shared that he was encouraged to pursue Pencak Silat by his teacher when he was in Grade 3.

His journey to success was strongly supported by his family, whose unwavering encouragement helped him balance both his academics and sports.

Lamayo also expressed deep gratitude to his coaches who invested time and effort in training him, contributing significantly to his victory.

“I hope to inspire other children like me that balancing sports and education is achievable,” Lamayo said.

His success not only highlights his personal dedication but also serves as an inspiration for young athletes to strive for excellence in their respective fields.
