๐ ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป, ๐๐น๐ผ๐ถ๐น๐ผ – A violent confrontation between two brothers in Sitio Duyan-Duyan, Brgy. Dagami, Maasin, Iloilo, left the older sibling severely injured after being hacked with a machete by his younger brother.
The victim, Danilo Manate Macaya, 40, suffered serious wounds to his left hand after being attacked by his 29-year-old brother, Regie Manate Macaya.
The two, along with another companion, were drinking together when a heated argument broke out.
According to Police Lt. Cyrone Empredad, Officer-In-Charge of the Maasin Municipal Police Station, the victim punched the suspect below his eye, which led the younger brother to leave the scene.
However, the victim followed him in an attempt to settle the disagreement, only for the suspect to grab a machete and hacked him.
The motive for the attack is believed to have been fueled by alcohol, as there had been no previous conflict between the two.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the West Visayas Medical Center after sustaining severe injuries. Meanwhile, the suspect is in the custody of the Maasin Municipal Police Station.
At present, the victimโs family has not made a final decision on whether to file charges against the suspect.
