𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – In stark contrast to the events at the Sinulog Festival in Cebu, where opposition figures faced jeers from the crowd, prominent opposition members received a warm reception from the Ilonggo crowd during the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City.
Among those warmly welcomed were Senator Risa Hontiveros, former Senator Bam Aquino, Akbayan Partylist nominee Chel Diokno, and former Senator Kiko Pangilinan.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas introduced the guests, and instead of boos, they were greeted with cheers and applause.
This is a notable departure from their experience at Sinulog, where some members of the crowd shouted “Duterte” and booed the opposition members.
At the Dinagyang Festival, however, Ilonggos showed their hospitality by treating all visitors with respect and enthusiasm, regardless of political affiliations, showcasing the city’s inclusive and festive spirit.
