Gin-anunsyo sang Department of Agriculture (DA) nga mahimo na ma-export ang isda nga tuloy matapos nalakip sa international food standards for fish and fishery products sang Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC).
Ini nga komisyon ang gin-establisar sang Food and Agriculture Organization kag World Health Organization agud nga mag-set sang global food safety standards para nga maproteksyunan ang mga consumer kag masiguro ang patas nga trade practices.
Kasunod sini nga development, nagpahayag si Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. nga makadugang ini sang bag-o nga investments sa sector sang pagpangisda kag makahatag man sang palangabuhian sa mga Pilipino.
“This is welcome news for the local fishery industry, a major export earner for the Philippines. This should stimulate new investments in the sector and create new jobs,” kabahin sang statement.
Antes nalakip ang tuloy sa codex, anum ka tuig man ang ginpatigayon nga advocacy and technical discussions paagi sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources kag National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI).
“The study, supported by a P17 million funding from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agricultural Research, fulfilled the technical criteria necessary for the species’ inclusion in the Codex,” suno pa sa DA.
