Former journalist Jay Ruiz is set to become the new head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), replacing Cesar Chavez, who tendered his irrevocable resignation to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on February 5.
Chavez confirmed the appointment on Thursday, stating that he has already spoken with Ruiz about the leadership transition.
“I spoke to Jay Ruiz already. I informed him that I will introduce him to the PCO Mancom on Monday, February 24, so he can begin a week-long transition. By March 1, he will be fully ready to take over as PCO Secretary,” Chavez said.
He also expressed hope that smooth transitions like this would become a standard practice across government agencies.
Despite stepping down, Chavez reaffirmed his support for the Marcos administration, saying, “I may be leaving my post, but I remain a believer in this administration’s vision, which I will continue to support as I pursue endeavors outside of government but still within the realm of public service.”
Chavez also extended his gratitude to the President for his trust and confidence in him.
