ILOILO – The candidates for Mr. and Ms. Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 6 are now officially set, with Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Joezal Balico and FO1 Mariel Jinon representing Iloilo in the regional competition.

The pageant is one of the highlights of the Fire Prevention Month celebration this March.

Balico, a native of Barotac Viejo, joined the BFP in 2021 after working for six years as a seafarer.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering degree from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and is now in his fourth year of service in the fire bureau.

Meanwhile, Jinon, who is assigned to Leganes Fire Station, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from PHINMA University of Iloilo.

She shared that her decision to join the BFP was inspired by firefighters’ dedication to serving their community during fire emergencies.

She has been in service for five years.

Both Balico and Jinon are first-time pageant participants but remain positive and determined to win the title.

The Mr. and Ms. BFP Region 6 pageant will take place on April 2 at Robinsons Pavia.
