ILOILO CITY – Graduates of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) have brought pride to their alma mater after securing top spots in the February 2025 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination.
Engr. Ivan Joey Gadot of Gaban, San Lorenzo, Guimaras, ranked second with an impressive score of 92.15%, while Francis Vonn Jesura of Magamay, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, secured the sixth spot with a rating of 89.80%.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Gadot expressed that becoming a topnotcher was an unexpected but rewarding bonus. He initially aspired to pursue aerospace engineering but opted for mechanical engineering due to the absence of an aerospace program in Iloilo. Over time, he developed a passion for his chosen field, which ultimately led to his success.
Similarly, Jesura also dreamt of studying aerospace engineering but later embraced mechanical engineering. He admitted feeling nervous during the licensure exam but remained grateful to God for helping him achieve a top rank. Balancing academics and extracurricular activities was a challenge, but his dedication paid off.
Jesura proudly shared that both he and his girlfriend passed the licensure exam. He acknowledged that his girlfriend played a crucial role in their studies, proving that love and academic success can go hand in hand.
Meanwhile, Eden Lee Sogo-an of Magbato, Lambunao, Iloilo, who is also a successful examinee, considered passing the board exam a great blessing. She was overjoyed that her boyfriend, Jesura, emerged as a topnotcher.
Sogo-an emphasized that their achievement debunked the notion that being in a relationship hinders academic success. She admitted facing struggles in her studies but credited Jesura’s support for helping her stay strong and determined.
Their success not only highlights their perseverance but also brings honor to ISAT-U, further cementing the university’s reputation for excellence in engineering education.
