A couple from Oton, Iloilo, will face charges after being arrested during a drug buy-bust operation.
The individuals involved are alias Michael, 31, who has no stable job and is a resident of Barangay Poblacion North, Oton, and his 33-year-old girlfriend alias Maymay, a businesswoman, who is said to reside in Barangay Alegre in the same town.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Lt. Colonel Abner Jordan, the chief of Oton Municipal Police Station, stated that the operation resulted in the seizure of an estimated 10 grams of suspected shabu with a standard market value of P68,000.
Jordan also mentioned that the authorities had been monitoring the couple for two months before conducting the buy-bust operation.
It is alleged that the drug supply was being sourced from Iloilo City and was being sold in Poblacion North and surrounding barangays in Oton.
On April 8, charges are expected to be filed against the couple for violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
