Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — More than 2 million people gathered at the shores of Copacabana Beach for a free concert by global pop icon Lady Gaga, marking the largest audience in her entire career.

The event, funded by the city government, was part of a broader initiative to boost Brazil’s recovering economy. Authorities estimate the concert will generate approximately $100 million (₱5.7 billion) in economic benefits for the local community.

Lady Gaga’s performance was held as part of her promotional tour for her eighth studio album, Mayhem, which features the tracks “Abracadabra” and “Die With a Smile.” It was her first performance in Brazil since 2012.

Security was tight throughout the event, with more than 5,000 police officers deployed to ensure public safety.

Lady Gaga follows in the footsteps of fellow music legend Madonna, who also held a free concert at the same iconic beach in May 2024.

Fans from across the country traveled to witness the pop superstar live, showing the lasting appeal of major international artists in Brazil’s vibrant music scene.
