MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has revealed it is determined to locate the remains of several missing cockfight enthusiasts believed to have been buried in Taal Lake.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that authorities are confident they can pinpoint the location of the victims, citing crucial information and testimonies provided by witnesses. These accounts suggest that the victims may have been dumped in the waters of Taal Lake.

The development follows claims made by a key witness identified as alias “Totoy” or Julie ‘Dondon’ Patidongan, who alleged that the missing cockfighters were buried in the lake.

In response, the DOJ confirmed plans to launch a diving operation in the area to verify the witness’s claims and uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearances.

Alias “Totoy” also accused businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and actress Gretchen Barretto of being involved in the case. According to the witness, Ang allegedly masterminded the abduction and possible killing of the cockfight enthusiasts, who have remained missing for years.

Ang’s camp has vehemently denied the accusations, branding the witness as unreliable and lacking solid evidence. They also questioned the DOJ’s decision to entertain the testimony, claiming it has no credibility.

In response to these denials, Secretary Remulla argued that efforts were being made to mislead the public and discredit legitimate investigations.

“They’re feeding you a PR job just to twist the narrative in their favor. That’s why I’d rather not engage. We only want the truth,” Remulla said during a press briefing.

Despite the case dragging on for years, the DOJ assured the public—especially the families of the missing cockfighters—that justice will still be served.

Investigations into the case continue.
