The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) Technobees successfully defended their record after once again claiming the overall championship title in the Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) VI 2024 Sports Festival.
According to the final and official medal tally, ISAT-U athletes collected 96 gold, 68 silver, and 64 bronze medals.
Capiz State University (CAPSU) placed second with 64 gold, 37 silver, and 75 bronze medals, while West Visayas State University (WVSU) finished third with 61 gold, 45 silver, and 63 bronze medals.
Prior to this sports festival, ISAT-U also emerged as overall champions in RSCUAA 2020 and 2023, hosted by Carlos Hilado Memorial State University; in the 2018 edition hosted by Northern Iloilo State University (NISU); and in the 2017 event hosted by the University of Antique.
The RSCUAA VI 2024 Sports Festival and Conference ran from December 15, featuring 42 sports events held across 22 venues.
This event was significant because it marked the first time that the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) served as host. It was also the last time universities from Negros Occidental participated, following the signing of the Negros Island Region Act.
A total of 13 state universities from six provinces participated in this activity, which had the theme: “One Western Visayas: Promoting Peace, Inclusivity, and Well-Being through Sports.”
During the closing ceremonies held at the Tamasak Arena in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, the torch was officially passed to NISU, which will host the next sports festival.
