ILOILO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) has once again reminded schools to refrain from electioneering or any partisan political activities during the upcoming graduation and moving-up ceremonies for School Year 2024-2025.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, DepEd Region 6 Information Officer Mr. Hernani Escullar Jr. stated that Education Secretary Sonny Angara issued Department Memorandum No. 27, series of 2025.
According to Escullar, the memorandum strictly prohibits DepEd officials, teachers, and representatives from engaging in any politically related activities. This directive aligns with Department Order No. 48, series of 2018, which bans electioneering and partisan political activity, as well as Department Order No. 47, series of 2022, which promotes professionalism in the implementation and delivery of basic education programs and services, including amendments under Department Order No. 49, series of 2022.
The End-of-School-Year (EOSY) rites are scheduled for April 14-15 for Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 10, Grade 12, and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners.
Furthermore, any form of contribution or fee collection from students for the ceremonies is strictly prohibited. All expenses must be covered by the school’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) fund.
To ensure the safety and comfort of students and teachers, schools are advised to hold the ceremonies indoors with proper ventilation or in covered courts.
