𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗟𝗔, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 — Former Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) President Liza Dino-Seguerra reported the theft of valuable items from her checked-in luggage after her arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday.
According to Aiza Seguerra, Liza’s partner, the items were discovered missing after arriving from a Philippine Airlines flight from San Francisco. Among the missing belongings were a pricey Apple Watch Ultra and a laptop.
Liza shared that she did not immediately check her luggage after landing as she was confident that nothing had been tampered with. However, upon reaching their home, the couple noticed that the luggage had a tear, which appeared to have been caused by a sharp object.
The management of Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Assistant Secretary of Transportation Vince Dizon quickly reached out to the couple after Liza posted about the incident on social media.
PAL has initiated an investigation regarding the missing items. CCTV footage showed that the luggage was already empty before being handed over to the airport staff on the day of their flight.
PAL management has agreed to compensate for the missing Apple Watch Ultra, valued at $1,000 USD, but will not reimburse for the missing laptop.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about baggage handling and security at major airports, especially regarding the safety of travelers’ belongings.
