A homicide complaint is set to be filed today against a man who allegedly stabbed his neighbor to death in Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified only as alias Michael, is a construction worker and a resident of the said barangay. The victim was identified as alias Joseph, 43.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Ryan Christ Inot, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 4, said that the victim’s family is determined to pursue legal action against the suspect.
Initial reports state that the incident stemmed from a complaint by the suspect’s younger brother, alias Toto, who claimed that the victim had been bullying, mocking, and cursing at him.
Upon learning this, the suspect allegedly grabbed a 12-inch knife, approached the victim, and stabbed him in the back, causing his death.
The suspect was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident and was immediately apprehended by barangay tanods.
Before the incident, several residents had reportedly filed complaints against the victim for aggressive and intimidating behavior. Police also confirmed that the victim had previously served time at the New Bilibid Prison for charges related to homicide, theft, and disorderly conduct. Captain Inot added that blotter reports had been filed at the Molo Police Station against the victim for allegedly causing trouble in the barangay.#
