ILOILO CITY- The Iloilo Police Provincial Office expressed disappointment following the arrest of a barangay captain who was caught with illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in San Enrique, Iloilo.
The arrested individual is Barangay Captain Elvie Paez, 47 years old, from Lip-ac, San Enrique, Iloilo.
He was found in possession of a sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000, along with 11 additional sachets and two improvised short firearms.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, PMaj Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, stated that whoever else is involved in their campaign against illegal drugs should be held accountable and responsible for their illicit activities.
However, according to Araño, the arrest of Paez proves that no one is exempt from the authorities’ pursuit. (With reports from Bombo Ria Momblan)
