On Christmas Day, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to reflect on the true essence of the holiday and embrace a life filled with meaning and purpose.
In his Christmas message, the President highlighted the significance of the occasion as a time to experience God’s presence in its most intimate form. He emphasized how this season evokes feelings of gratitude, kindness, and happiness, which transcend religious boundaries, offering an invitation for joy and thanksgiving to all, regardless of background.
“The celebration and significance of Christmas go beyond the limits of religion, inviting everyone, no matter their circumstances, to share in its joy,” Marcos said. “As Filipinos reunite with loved ones and celebrate the blessings of the past year, I urge everyone to reflect on what is truly important: living a life of purpose.”
Marcos expressed hope that the spirit of Christmas would bring love and peace to every Filipino home. He also encouraged deeper appreciation for the strength found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
“In our collective journey to build a Bagong Pilipinas, let us be guided by the light that led the wise men to the infant in the manger. May we share the hope that the Lord offers freely to all,” he added.
In a separate video message, the First Family also encouraged Filipinos to celebrate the season, despite the challenges many face. First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos invited the public to explore the beauty of the country, while their children, Sandro, Joseph, and William, urged people to visit churches, enjoy Christmas lights, and cherish time with family and friends.
“Christmas doesn’t have to be extravagant. No matter where we are or what our situation may be, Christmas for Filipinos is all about love and giving. It’s about family,” President Marcos said.
