𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗦 – Authorities are investigating two personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) who were caught illegally working as security escorts for a gubernatorial candidate in Guimaras.

The two were arrested along with a woman accused of swindling.

The suspect was identified as Margarita “Maggie” Cacho of Barangay Sabang, Sibunag, Guimaras, a cousin of First Lady Atty. Liza Cacho Araneta Marcos.

The arrested PCG personnel were Apprentice Seaman Marwin Parpan, 31, from Dipolog City, and Seaman Second Class Rico Maylan, 27, from Sandulot, Siaton, Negros Oriental.

The three were caught in an entrapment operation following a swindling complaint.

According to Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Director of Police Regional Office 6, the two coast guard members failed to present legal documents allowing them to serve as security escorts.

Authorities also confiscated two .45 caliber pistols and ammunition from their possession.

The suspects were charged with violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the COMELEC Gun Ban under COMELEC Resolution No. 11067.

They are currently detained at the Sibunag Municipal Police Station pending further investigation.
