British actor Russell Brand is facing multiple charges of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault in the United Kingdom.
The charges stem from allegations made by four different women, covering incidents that allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2005.
The 49-year-old actor has denied all accusations, describing the situation as “very painful” and asserting that all his past relationships were consensual.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Brand has been informed about the complaints filed against him.
The first alleged incident dates back to 1999, where Brand is accused of raping a woman in the Bournemouth area. In 2001, another woman reported being indecently assaulted by the actor in Westminster, London.
In 2004, a woman claimed that Brand orally raped and sexually assaulted her in Westminster. Another woman also came forward, alleging she was sexually assaulted by the actor between 2004 and 2005 in the same area.
Brand has been ordered to appear before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2.
Jaswant Narwal of the Crown Prosecution Service stated that they have authorized the Metropolitan Police to formally charge the actor.
