Authorities seized an estimated P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu from a live-in couple in Zone 6, Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City, on the evening of April 7.
The individuals arrested were identified as alias Nene, 20, and alias Jepay, 24, both of whom are recognized as high-value individuals (HVIs).
In the operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) VI, nearly 200 grams of the illegal drug were found in the possession of the two.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Ryan Christ Inot, chief of CDEU, revealed that their monitoring of the couple lasted for two months following information received regarding suspicious transactions.
Inot mentioned that the woman was hiding the items, while the man was delivering them to various districts, particularly in Molo, Villa, La Paz, and City Proper. Sometimes, he added, their customers would even go directly to their house.
The couple has not yet disclosed their source, and the authorities’ investigation is ongoing.
Inot also confirmed that the man had a previous case related to illegal drugs and was released due to a plea bargaining agreement.
The live-in couple is set to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
