The Makabayan Coalition is calling on the public to put a stop to red-tagging against its members, particularly party-list groups and senatorial candidates, as the 2025 midterm elections draw near.

This appeal follows the appearance of red-tagging posters in Iloilo City and other parts of Western Visayas.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Kabataan Party-List Representative Crimson Labinghisa described the red-tagging incidents as not only harmful and damaging, but also illegal.

Labinghisa emphasized that the groups under the Makabayan Coalition have been at the forefront of passing laws aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Filipinos—such as those pushing for higher wages, better access to quality education, and the continuous delivery of public services for all.

According to her, red-tagging not only tarnishes reputations but also fuels harassment and fear among targeted individuals and organizations.

The Makabayan Coalition is also urging authorities to investigate and identify those responsible for putting up the red-tagging posters in Iloilo and across Western Visayas.

They are likewise appealing to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the general public to uphold the rights of candidates and help prevent any form of harassment during the election period.
