The BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully concluded its Tri-Country Port Visit mission with a stop in Da Nang City, Vietnam, from April 14 to 17, 2025.
Led by Captain Eleizer Ibarrientos, the visit to Vietnam served as the final leg of a historic regional tour that also included official port calls in Thailand and Malaysia.
During the three-day visit, the PCG and the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) strengthened bilateral cooperation through a series of courtesy calls, professional exchanges, ship tours, people-to-people engagements, and preparatory meetings.
As a gesture of goodwill, the VCG hosted a farewell ceremony for BRP Gabriela Silang before its departure, followed by a joint at-sea exercise focused on search and rescue operations and firefighting drills.
The reciprocal visit reinforced ties between the PCG and VCG, building on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2024 and the earlier visit of VCG Ship CSB 8002 to Manila in August of the same year.
The Vietnam port call highlighted the PCG’s active role in regional cooperation under the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum (ACF) and its commitment to enhancing maritime security in Southeast Asia.
BRP Gabriela Silang is now en route back to the Philippines, bringing home strengthened partnerships, valuable experience, and a renewed dedication to a safer and more secure maritime domain in the region.
