𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – A father riding a tricycle died after being hit by a van in Barangay Punong, Passi City.
The victim was identified as Edmar Pareñas, a resident of Barangay Rumbang, Pototan, Iloilo, while the van driver was Noriel Simba, from Barangay Namocon, Leon, Iloilo.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Maria Rosario Miranda, Deputy Chief of Police at the Passi City Police Station, explained that the victim was on his way to Estancia, Iloilo, with his 10-year-old child, while the van was headed toward Caticlan in Malay, Aklan.
The victim had stopped at the side of the road to retrieve his sunglasses but was not seen by the van, which caused the collision.
Miranda stated that the van was speeding and failed to notice the tricycle, leading to the accident.
At present, authorities are still determining whether the victim’s family will file charges against the van driver.
