The training sessions for Electoral Boards in Western Visayas have concluded in preparation for the upcoming May 2025 Midterm Elections.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Atty. Dennis Ausan, Director of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Region 6, shared that most of the members of the Electoral Boards are experienced individuals who have participated in previous elections.
According to Ausan, the training mainly served as a refresher course, ensuring that the Electoral Boards are updated with new protocols and technologies.
The role of the Electoral Board is crucial in the electoral process, as they are responsible for ensuring that voting procedures are conducted smoothly and in accordance with the established rules.
Ausan also mentioned that there are benefits awaiting the Electoral Board members for their service in the 2025 Midterm Elections. The Chairperson of the Electoral Board will receive a P12,000 honorarium, while the Poll Clerk and Third Member will each receive P11,000.
Additionally, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has certified that at least one poll worker in each clustered precinct will be IT-capable to handle the technical aspects of voting and counting processes effectively.
The elections are scheduled for May 12, 2025, with polling stations open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
