Contractor Sarah Discaya personally appeared at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s earlier statement that she would be arrested once a warrant is issued by the court.

Discaya is facing malversation and graft charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with an allegedly anomalous ₱96.5-million flood control project in Davao Occidental.

The project was declared completed in 2022, but a subsequent investigation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) revealed that the project had not actually been carried out.

Discaya is reportedly linked to several companies that secured major portions of the flood control contracts, including Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation.

Also implicated in the case are several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who were involved in the questioned project.

President Marcos earlier emphasized that those involved in corruption “will not escape justice,” and said the arrest warrant is expected to be issued within the week.

Discaya’s appearance before the NBI is seen as a significant development in the broader government probe into corruption in public infrastructure projects.
