Gin-umpisahan na sang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang independent investigation sa engkwentro sa tunga sang militar kag ginaalegar mga katapo sang New People’s Army (NPA) sa Toboso, Negros Occidental nga nagbilin sang 19 ka mga patay.
Suno sa komisyon, ginhimo ang imbestigasyon paagi sa ila nga opisina sa Negros Island Region (NIR).
Ini ang kasunod sang impormasyon halin sa local human rights advocates nga amo ang nagtulod sa komisyon nga makig-angot sa civil society organizations, local authorities, kag security forces.
“The CHR, through its office in the Negros Island Region, has initiated an independent investigation. Information from local human rights advocates prompted coordination with civil society organizations, local authorities, and security forces, including working with the families for the retrieval of the remains in Toboso and Escalante,” suno sa CHR.
Dugang sini: “Allegation of unlawful killing or violation of IHL and human rights law require prompt, effective, impartial, and independent investigation, and accountability where violation is established.”
Ginmuno man sang komisyon ang ginatos ka mga pamilya nga nagbiya anay sa ila nga mga balay matapos ang engkwentro.
“Further, the CHR is concerned about reports that, due to the incident, over a hundred families were displaced. The Commission calls on authorities to ensure adequate humanitarian assistance, protection from further displacement, and access to basic services, in line with human rights and humanitarian standards,” dugang sa press statement.
Matandaan nga nagkalamatay ang 19 ka ginapahayag nga mga rebelde matapos ang engkwentro batok sa tropa sang militar sadtong Abril 19 sa Barangay Salamanca.
Lakip sa mga napatay amo ang duha ka Filipino-Americans nga sanday Lyle Prijoles kag Kai Dana-Rene Sorem.
Patay man ang community journalist nga si RJ Ledesma kag University of the Philippines-Diliman student leader nga si Alyssa Alano.
Nauna na nga ginbali ni AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. ang mga pahayag nga mga sibilyan ang pila ka mga casualties. Gin-insister sini nga ang mga soldado mismo ang nakakita nga nagakarga man sang armas pati si Alano kag isa sa mga combatant nga nagabato sa pwersa sang military.#
