A backrider who got stuck under a truck along Benigno Aquino Avenue, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The victim was identified as Reynaldo Sitchon, 48, a resident of Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo, while the motorcycle driver was Vincent Rebano, 28, a resident of Katilingban, Molo.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Patrolman Jonell Alimodian, Traffic Investigator of the Mandurriao District, stated that the backrider suffered a chest injury.
Based on the investigation, the motorcycle stopped to give way to a vehicle making a U-turn. However, a truck carrying fish was following behind and suddenly crashed into the rear of the motorcycle, causing the backrider to be pinned underneath the truck.
According to the truck driver, the brakes failed to engage immediately, preventing him from stopping in time.
Authorities are now rushing to file a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide, Physical Injury, and Damage to Property against the truck driver.
