Actress Janine Gutierrez is currently grieving after the heartbreaking loss of her two grandmothers—Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales and National Artist for Film and Superstar Nora Aunor—within just five days of each other.

Janine, 35, is the daughter of Lotlot de Leon, the adopted daughter of Nora Aunor, and Ramon Christopher, son of Pilita Corrales.

Pilita Corrales passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, as confirmed by her daughter, actress Jackie Lou Blanco. Just four days later, on April 16, Nora Aunor also passed away. Her remains are currently lying in state at Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Janine took to social media to pay tribute to both of her grandmothers. She described Pilita as an inspiration not just for her music but also for her kindness. Meanwhile, she honored Nora Aunor—whom she lovingly referred to as “Mama Guy”—as a treasure not only to their family but to the entire Filipino nation.

“With sorrowful hearts, we share the passing of our grandmother, Mama Guy. A treasure to our family but truly always more the people’s than ours. She had a life of giving her immeasurable love to everyone she touched whether on screen, through music, or in person,” Janine wrote in her Instagram post.

A state funeral is being arranged for Nora Aunor on April 22, although specific details have yet to be finalized, according to her son Kristoffer Ian de Leon.
