OTON, ILOILO – Authorities have found no signs of foul play in the death of a man discovered near the shoreline of Barangay Poblacion East, Oton, Iloilo.
The victim was identified as Marcelino Todorejos Sr., 59, a laborer and resident of Barangay Poblacion South, Oton.
According to Patrolman Fritz Desbaro, investigator of the Oton Municipal Police Station, a fisherman was the first to discover Todorejos’ lifeless body. Based on their investigation, his wife admitted that he was known to frequently consume alcohol.
Before he was found dead, Todorejos reportedly told his wife that he was going out to check on his tricycle, but he never returned home. Authorities suspect that due to intoxication, he may have lost control of himself and fallen off the seawall.
Police noted that the victim sustained wounds on his hand, believed to have been caused by exposed nails in the area.
The investigation remains ongoing, but initial findings suggest that his death was accidental.
